Over the past month, our PhotoUp team has been working on our most recent Community Impact Project with a local elementary school in Cebu. The team worked with the school to help design and paint murals in the hopes of bringing some life and color to their building. One of our PhotoUp editors designed pieces of artwork that were to be placed in the schools library and foyer.
After designs were completed and approved by the school, our team took one week to complete the paintings in the library and then came back on the following week to finish the mural in the foyer.
Our lead on the project, Ian, had these words to say about the paintings and the impact that they had on the community:
“Having colorful surroundings makes our day brighter. Looking at scenes where your eyes would be amazed and begin your day with bursting ideas, that would touch your day. In cooperation with Banilad Elementary School, the PhotoUp team was very excited to help and volunteer to paint some of their school buildings. Aside from painting their wall, it is also important to emphasize a part of school building to be noticeable and encourage students to learn. We considered a lot of things before painting the mural and that is to influence the students through art as well as to beautify the school. Since the creation of the idea, we’ve asked the school if we can paint it near the library and they happily accepted the offer.”
“All the hard work, fun in the sun and the desire to help really paid off. It was a big success and the results were better than what the team expected. We’re very happy for the opportunity to paint and give colors to other lives, not only for the school but also for the students.”
